Road Cordoned Off after Unexploded Device Found In East Cowes

Police have this morning sealed off Kingston Road, East Cowes.

An area of East Cowes has been sealed off by Police  after what is thought to be an unexploded grenade was discovered.

It was found by people who were digging and clearing land near to Isle of Wight Fuels.

 

Officers from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police have   put a 50 metre exclusion zone in place

They are now awaiting the arrival  of the Bomb Disposal Team.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have been made aware of the incident due to its close proximity to the fuel depot, which at this stage has not been evacuated.   The area is expected to remain closed for the few couple of hours.
