Serving Prisoner gets slap on the Wrist after attacking Prison Officer
A prisoner who assaulted a serving Prison Officer causing them actual bodily harm (resulting in a permanent injury) appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates Court this week. The court gave the prisoner a slap on the wrist. Passing a sentence of one of 18 weeks detention (deemed served by reason of time already spent in custody) So in effect nothing! And ordered they pay £115 victim surcharge! This sentence is giving prisoners in every prions in England the green light to assault staff knowing that there will be little or no consequences involved.
