A 36-year-old man from Burton, Staffordshire, has been locked up for 19 years after admitting multiple serious sex offences against a child.

Aaron John Starmer pleaded guilty to a string of horrific charges, including child rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Swift Police Action After Victim Speaks Out
The investigation kicked off when the brave victim came forward. Officers acted fast, arresting Starmer the same day. He was charged and remanded within 24 hours. Notably, Starmer had no previous sexual offence convictions.
Harsh Sentence and Lifetime Orders
Starmer was sentenced to 19 years behind bars, followed by six years on licence. He will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life and is subject to an indefinite Sexual Risk Prevention Order. A restraining order also bans him from contacting the victim.
Detective Constable Sophie Smart praised the victim’s courage. “Their bravery allowed officers to take swift action and secure justice,” she said.
Police urge anyone affected by sexual abuse to come forward, stressing support is available and every report is taken seriously.
