A terrifying drama at High Dam Tarn, Cumbria, ended in tragedy as the body of a missing 17-year-old boy was recovered following a huge multi-agency rescue operation.

Cumbria Constabulary confirmed officers were first alerted at 12:32pm after a member of the public spotted someone struggling in the water. This sparked a major search involving Cumbria Police, Fire and Rescue, North West Ambulance, HM Coastguard, and local mountain rescue teams. Emergency crews worked tirelessly throughout the day, scouring the area to find the missing teenager.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances
At 10pm, police revealed that a body had been recovered from the tarn. Authorities confirmed the death is not currently being treated as suspicious.
“The thoughts and condolences of the entire rescue team are with the male’s family and friends who are being supported by detectives,” said Superintendent Patrick O’Hara of Cumbria Constabulary. “I would also like to thank local farmers who supported the operation, conveying first responders and equipment off-road to the search area.”
