Two people attacked on Taxi Rank Near Kings Theatre in Southsea

Police appealing for witnesses after two men were assaulted as they waited for a taxi in Southsea. Officers were called to the taxi rank outside the Kings Theatre, in Albert Road, shortly before 1am, on 6 August. A 43-year-old man reported being punched to the ground and kicked in the head, leaving him with a suspected broken eye socket. A 36-year-old man suffered injuries to his elbows and arms. Both received hospital treatment. One suspect is described as being white, short, with short, fair hair and was wearing a light coloured top. Another is described as being white, around 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a black shirt. Police Staff Investigator Michelle Easton said: “We know that there were a lot of people in the area at the time of this assault, so if you saw something and are yet to speak to us, please get in touch. “We would also ask any taxi drivers who were there at the time to check the footage from their CCTV cameras and hand it over to us, as there could be something on there that could help our investigation.” If you have any information relating to this case, please call 101 quoting reference ‘44170302298’, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
