The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms covering large parts of the UK following predictions of temperatures soaring as high as 27°C.
As the UK experiences elevated temperatures today and heading into the weekend, meteorologists caution of potential “thundery breakdowns” expected on Sunday.
The warning, effective from noon to 10 pm on Sunday, spans the North West of England, most of Wales, significant portions of central England, and the South West.
“Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some disruption in places, especially to travel,” warns the Met Office. “Isolated property flooding is possible.”
The weather agency highlights the possibility of rapid flooding of homes and businesses, and potential damage from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail, or strong winds.
In southern England, temperatures are expected to peak at 25°C today, with a forecast of reaching 26°C on Saturday and possibly soaring to 27°C on Sunday.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are also set to experience warmer springtime conditions, with Glasgow expecting temperatures to hit 22°C on Saturday.
The Met Office advises residents to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and warnings, urging caution and preparedness for potential disruptions caused by the thunderstorms.
