An urgent recall notice has been issued for a popular Tesco seasoning over concerns it poses a risk to peanut allergy sufferers.
The affected garlic powder comes in 45g packs and has an expiry date of February 2026. Customers who have purchased the product are advised to check the packaging and return it to Tesco for a full refund.

Peanut allergies can lead to severe reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening. Symptoms of anaphylaxis include throat tightness, breathing difficulties, and skin reactions.

Tesco has apologized for the oversight and assured customers that they are working with food safety authorities to prevent similar incidents.

Other Recent Food Recalls

The Tesco garlic powder recall follows a series of recent product warnings. Earlier this week, Baxter’s Sliced Gherkins Crunchy & Sweet was recalled due to undeclared mustard, posing a risk to those allergic to the spice. The affected jars have best-before dates of June 2026 and July 2026.

Last month, the FSAI also issued a ‘do not eat’ warning for 18 Irish cheeses produced by JOD Food Products, some of which are stocked in Tesco stores.

In 2024, Tesco recalled its Plant Chef 2 Meat-Free Burgers with Melting Middles due to a ‘burn risk’ after reports that the product could retain dangerously high temperatures after cooking.

Tesco customers concerned about allergens in their food purchases are encouraged to check the company’s recall notices and return affected products for a refund.
