A joint vehicle enforcement operation carried out by the Metropolitan Police Service’s Southwark unit and the Vehicle Enforcement Team has resulted in a major haul of illegal and unsafe vehicles, as well as arrests linked to criminal offences.
The pre-planned deployment, carried out across the Southwark Basic Command Unit (BCU), took place earlier this week and led to the following outcomes:

Police confirmed that the operation targeted drivers flouting road laws, particularly those without insurance, licences, or who were using vehicles in an unroadworthy state.
A spokesperson from the MPS Southwark team said:
“Operations like these are vital to keeping our roads safe and holding to account those who ignore the law. Uninsured and unsafe vehicles pose real risks to the public. We’ll continue to carry out proactive checks and seize vehicles where appropriate.”
Residents welcomed the action, with many calling for similar operations to take place more regularly to tackle anti-social driving and vehicle-related crime.
