Tragic Death and Police Action
Three days later, a 38-year-old woman died from her injuries on April 9. The victim’s passing sparked a full murder investigation by Police Scotland. Last week, cops charged a 50-year-old local woman, Debbie Taylor, in connection with the fire. She appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Saturday, April 4, facing murder and attempted murder charges.
Details of the Case
Taylor made no plea and was remanded in custody, with her next court appearance expected within eight days. Authorities confirmed nine people needed medical attention overall, some rushed to Paisley’s Royal Alexandra Hospital and others to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
“Officers have arrested and charged a woman in connection with the death of a 38-year-old woman who died following a house fire in Paisley,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said. “Emergency services attended the incident and seven people were taken to hospital. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
