BAFTA Film Awards Push Back Final Episodes of Series 14
Fans of BBC’s Call the Midwife will have to wait an extra week to see how Series 14 unfolds, as the BAFTA Film Awards take over its usual Sunday evening slot.
Episode seven of the hit drama was originally scheduled to air on Sunday, February 16 at 8 PM, but will now be pushed back to Sunday, February 23, to accommodate the prestigious awards ceremony.
As a result, the series finale will also be delayed, now airing on the first weekend of March.
Why is Call the Midwife Being Delayed?
This isn’t the first time Call the Midwife has had to adjust its schedule due to the BAFTAs. Last year, the Series 13 finale was similarly postponed to make way for the annual awards.
This year, the BAFTAs will be hosted by David Tennant and will feature top contenders such as Conclave, Wicked, Anora, and Dune: Part Two in major categories.
What’s Coming Up in the Next Episodes?
When Call the Midwife returns on February 23, viewers can expect a gripping storyline:
- Joyce faces a tough decision when a mother suffers serious complications.
- A council workers’ strike sparks an outbreak of Weil’s disease, putting the community at risk.
- Cyril’s life takes a dramatic turn, leaving fans wondering what’s next for the beloved character.
Will Olly Rix Return as Matthew?
Another burning question among fans is whether Olly Rix, who played Matthew, will return to the show.
At the end of Series 13, Matthew left for New York to pursue new business ventures, while Trixie (Helen George) was left to split her time between the UK and the US.
Recently, George hinted that Rix might make a comeback, but remained tight-lipped about any concrete details.
“Who knows!” she told Radio Times.
“It’ll be interesting to see what happens there. At the moment, I don’t know, and I’m excited to find out what happens.”
Where to Watch Call the Midwife
Fans can catch Call the Midwife on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with Series 14 set to conclude in early March.
Despite the delay, anticipation remains high for the final two episodes, as viewers prepare for another emotional conclusion to one of the BBC’s most beloved dramas.
