Mindless Vandals Attack Newport Cash Machine

The Nationwide branch in Newport has been targeted by vandals for the third time in recent weeks. Glue was smeared over the keypad of the High Street bank’s cash machine, and the Surround was also ripped off making it unusable. Police have said the latest attack took place over the weekend. A spokeswoman from Nationwide said: “It seems that the vandalism is not just confined to night time but is sometimes being carried out in daylight“Repairing the machine costs £2,000 and customers are being inconvenienced leaving them two working inside the branch.” Police said there was no apparent motive and added that but police were keen to find out who was committing what appeared to be a senseless crime anyone who sees the vandalism should ring 999 and report a crime in progress.
