Thousands of homes across the Isle of Wight have been left without water or suffering from low pressure following a major burst water main in Blackwater, near the River Medina.
While tankers have been deployed to inject water directly into the network, restoring supply to about half of the affected homes, many residents remain without running water.
Southern Water has issued an apology to customers and is prioritising vulnerable individuals registered on its Priority Services Register, delivering bottled water directly to their doors. A dedicated helpline (0330 303 0368) has been set up for those needing urgent assistance.
The company is also preparing bottled water collection points for the wider community, with locations and further updates expected after 6pm today.
Residents are advised to monitor Southern Water’s website and social media channels for the latest information.
