A cherished antique clock, stolen from Preston Manor in Brighton over twenty years ago, has been returned to its rightful home. The musical clock, popular among visitors, especially children, features sailing ships that move to music every hour when it chimes.
The historical piece was stolen on February 12, 2001, by two men who were seen fleeing in a nearby vehicle. Despite extensive efforts by Sussex Police, the thieves were never apprehended. However, the saga took a positive turn this year when the Rural Crime Team recovered the clock at an auction house, thanks to a tip-off from the Art Loss Register—a platform used for monitoring stolen art and antiques.
