The BBC has secured the rights to the new French action drama, “Dark Hearts,” from Newen Connect, adding the six-part series to its lineup on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer. Starring Marie Dompnier (“Witnesses”), Thierry Godard (“Spiral”), and Nicolas Duvauchelle (“Braquo”), the series is set against the backdrop of Iraq on the eve of the battle for Mosul in October 2016.

“Dark Hearts” revolves around an elite French Special Forces unit with a high-stakes mission: to extract the daughter and grandchildren of a high-ranking ISIS leader. The goal is to obtain crucial information from the leader about an impending terrorist threat in the region. Directed by Academy Award nominee Ziad Doueiri (“The Insult”), the series promises to deliver a captivating blend of action drama and espionage thriller.
