The UK passport has been ranked as one of the worst in Europe in terms of value for money, following a recent price increase. New research reveals that the UK passport has dropped in rankings due to its higher cost compared to other European countries.
According to the latest Passport Value Index, compiled by digital PR agency Tank, the UK passport has slipped from 31st to 35th place globally. This decline comes after a 7% price hike in April, raising the cost from £82.50 to £88.50. The UK passport, valid for 10 years, allows access to 192 visa-free countries at a cost of £8.85 per year, which represents 2.68% of an average monthly salary.
