A 35-year-old man has been locked up for six months after sexually assaulting a woman on a packed Central Line train. Jatinder Singh, aka Vicky Singh Sangha, targeted his victim on a morning commute, hiding behind the crush of passengers to carry out the attack.
Packed Tube Ride Turns Nightmarish
On the morning of Wednesday, 2 October 2024, just after 8.20am, Sangha boarded the westbound Central Line service at Liverpool Street. The train was busy and cramped – the perfect cover for his vile actions. He took advantage of the tight space to carry out the attack without alerting fellow passengers.
Quick-Thinking Victim Helps Nab Perp
The victim showed bravery and presence of mind by texting the British Transport Police (BTP) on 61016 during the incident. Thanks to her quick response, officers launched an investigation. Days later, an alert BTP officer spotted Sangha near King’s Cross Station and arrested him.
Justice Served: Singh Sentenced
Singh, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to Sexual Assault at London Inner Crown Court on Tuesday 25 November. He was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, fined a £187 surcharge, and must register with police for 10 years.
