Power outage knocks out Newport Street lights
The Isle of Wight’s county town of Newport, has been plunged into a level of darkness tonight (Thursday) as a result of a power failure. The fault has only effected the street light not traffic lights. Most of Newport is without working street lighting , including surrounding are such as Pan, Carisbrooke Parkhurst. SSE have advised they are aware of the issue and have sent a number of engineers to locate the fault It is currently unclear what has caused the outage, especially with electricity supply still present for homes and businesses.
