Man arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after multiple vehicle crash in Beckenham

 

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a crash involving a van and multiple vehicles in Beckenham last night.

Emergency services were called to Beckenham High Street at around 9:15pm on Thursday (April 17) following reports of a collision. Upon arrival, Metropolitan Police officers arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was taken into custody, where he remains while enquiries continue.

Despite the number of vehicles involved, police confirmed that there were no reported injuries.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“On Thursday, 17 April at 21:15hrs, police were called to Beckenham High Street following reports of a road traffic collision between a van and multiple vehicles. Officers attended the scene and arrested a man on suspicion of drunk driving. He remains in custody. There were no injuries.”

The incident caused temporary disruption to traffic in the area, but all roads have since reopened.
