Two burglars have been locked up for stealing cars and sentimental jewellery from homes in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge—and then pawning the loot for scrap cash.

Smash-and-Grab Spree Leaves Victims Devastated

Lorenzo King and Ricky Rixon targeted homes between October 2023 and January 2024. They broke in through rear patio doors, leaving scenes in chaos after frenzied searches. On multiple occasions, they stole car keys along with vehicles and raided jewellery collections.

Among their haul was a cherished ring, a gift from a victim’s late husband, which they sold to a pawnbroker as scrap metal—though thankfully, it has since been recovered.

Police Hunt Leads to Arrests and Evidence Haul

  • Rixon, 39, from Orpington, was nabbed after officers spotted a stolen car linked to him in Paddock Wood.
  • A search uncovered a mobile phone that helped cops trace and arrest 36-year-old King from Beckenham.
  • CCTV footage confirmed King’s presence at the crime scenes, including images of him in a distinctive Nike tracksuit.
  • Financial probes revealed the pair used false names to sell jewellery worth thousands to London pawnbrokers.

Five Years Behind Bars for Cold-Hearted Crooks

At Maidstone Crown Court on 4 December, both men pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and money laundering.

Judge sentenced King and Rixon to five years and four months each—sending a clear message to local criminals.

“Rixon and King smashed their way into homes, leaving their victims feeling frightened and vulnerable,” said Detective Constable Celia King.

“They went to great lengths to avoid detection, using face coverings and false plates. We thank the victims for their quick reporting and support, which helped secure this conviction.”
