Two burglars jailed for stealing cars and treasured jewellery in Sevenoaks and Tonbridge
Smash-and-Grab Spree Shatters Homes and Hearts
Lorenzo King and Ricky Rixon went on a brazen crime spree from October 2023 to January 2024. They forced entry through rear patio doors, leaving homes trashed in their wake. The duo grabbed car keys, drove off in stolen vehicles, and ripped off sentimental jewellery collections.
Among the stolen items was a precious ring given by a victim’s late husband. The heartbreaker? They sold it to a pawnbroker as scrap metal. Luckily, police managed to recover the treasured keepsake.
Police Hunt Nets Key Evidence and Arrests
- Rixon, 39, of Orpington, was caught after officers spotted a stolen car linked to him in Paddock Wood.
- A seized mobile phone helped police track down 36-year-old King from Beckenham.
- CCTV showed King at multiple crime scenes, sporting a distinctive Nike tracksuit.
- Investigators uncovered the pair used fake names to sell thousands of pounds’ worth of stolen jewellery to London pawnbrokers.
Five Years in Prison for Callous Crooks
At Maidstone Crown Court on 4 December, King and Rixon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and money laundering.
Both were slapped with hefty sentences: five years and four months behind bars, sending a strong warning to local criminals.
“Rixon and King smashed their way into homes, leaving their victims feeling frightened and vulnerable,” said Detective Constable Celia King. “They went to great lengths to avoid detection, using face coverings and false plates. We thank the victims for their quick reporting and support, which helped secure this conviction.”
