Police Smash Window to Save Dog Left Baking in Blazing Hot Car at Osborne House

Officers smashed the driver’s side window to rescue a dog trapped for over five hours in scorching heat. The pooch was found suffering in a sweltering car at Osborne House’s car park in East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Quick-Thinking Staff Alerted Police

English Heritage staff spotted the animal locked inside the vehicle and called the police. On arrival, officers acted fast, smashing the window to free the distressed dog.

Owner to Face Prosecution After Animal Abuse

Police revealed they lasted just 30 seconds inside the overheated car before struggling to breathe — highlighting the horror the poor dog endured. The owners have been traced and now face prosecution by the RSPCA, with inspectors teaming up with police on the case.

“There is no excuse for this,” said an officer. “The dog was clearly suffering in the heat and we had to act swiftly to save it.”
