Shocking Attack in Lee-on-the-Solent: Police Hunt Two Men After Man Doused with Caustic Liquid
Police have released e-fit images of two suspects wanted over a vicious early-morning assault in Lee-on-the-Solent. A 47-year-old man was reportedly attacked on the High Street just before 4am on Tuesday, May 3, as he left for work.
Victim Attacked and Sprayed with Caustic Soda
The victim was approached by two men who threw an unknown liquid in his face. Tests later revealed the substance to be Sodium Hydroxide (caustic soda), a dangerous chemical. Thankfully, it poses no wider risk to the public.
He was rushed to hospital with facial injuries and remains under treatment.
Police Release Detailed E-Fits of Suspects
First man:
- White male, early 20s
- About 5ft 8in, medium build
- Dark hair, beard around jawline
- Blue eyes
- Wearing blue or black QPR tracksuit top, white trainers
- Black dot tattoos on fingers
- Strong Scottish accent
Second man:
- White male, late teens
- 5ft 3in tall
- Clean-shaven with red cheeks
- Pierced ears with studs
- Wearing blue jeans, black & white striped shirt, black hoody bomber jacket
- Slight Scottish accent
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“We’ve spoken extensively to the victim to update and refine the suspects’ descriptions,” said DS David 1. “Specialist Hampshire Police and Rescue teams were called in as a precaution to identify the chemical involved.”
“The victim remains in hospital. We urge anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward. Your information could be crucial.”
