Body Found Near Ryders Green Lock Flight as Canal Remains Closed
A section of canal near Ryders Green Lock Flight in West Bromwich stays shut after police discovered a body in the water this morning.
Police Probe Unexplained Death
West Midlands Police found the body near Ryders Green Road just before 11am today.
“At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained,” a police spokesman said. “A forensic post mortem will be carried out in due course to help establish the cause of death.”
Canal & River Trust Promises Reopening
The Canal & River Trust is working closely with police to reopen the canal and towpath as soon as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation,” the Trust stated.
Emergency Services Urge Public to Avoid Area
Emergency teams remain on the scene while police continue their investigation. The public is urged to stay clear of the area until further notice.
