Appeal after 19 year old man is stabbed in Kirkby

Detectives are investigating after a male was stabbed in Kirkby this afternoon, Tuesday, 14 May. Just before 4pm, emergency services were called to Grasmere Close following reports of a 19-year-old male being approached by a person from behind and stabbed, resulting in lacerations to his neck and back, he was treated at the scene by the ambulance service. He was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition, his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The attack took place in Mill Dam Park, Mill Lane, the victim was found on the ground and taken to an address in Grasmere Gardens to get help. CCTV enquiries are ongoing in the area and detectives are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. Chief Inspector Peter Clark said: “The circumstances surrounding this incident are unclear at this time and we will be continuing to speak to people locally. “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to come forward and talk to us. “We all understand the concern that knife crime and other violence causes, but with your information we can keep making arrests, seizing weapons, and educating people on the risks of carrying weapons, to themselves and others.
