Appeal after serious crash overnight

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Tower Hamlets that has resulted in a motorcyclist suffering life-threatening injuries. Police were called to Whitechapel Road, E1, shortly before 12.30am on Wednesday, 1 May to reports of a collision between a van and a motorcycle. Officers attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. The motorcyclist, aged 39, was treated at the scene for a number of injuries before being taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The van driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their enquiries. No arrests have been made. Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam footage.
