Emergency services responded to a fire at a residential property in Canterbury Drive, Brighton, at around 11:00pm on Saturday night (April 13), East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) has confirmed. At the height of the incident, six fire appliances were deployed to the scene, with firefighters using four hose reel jets to bring the flames under control. Residents in the area were advised to close all doors and windows due to smoke. By around 1:00am, ESFRS confirmed that the fire had been brought under control, and the operation was scaled back to one remaining appliance. All persons were safely accounted for, and one casualty was treated at the scene before being placed in the care of paramedics. Sussex Police remain at the scene as part of the ongoing response. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the fire.
