Metropolitan Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man believed to be involved in a violent incident that occurred between England and Germany football supporters at a pub in Wembley last year.
The incident transpired on the evening of Monday, September 26, 2022, at a pub on Dagmar Avenue.
A group of approximately 100 men, many wearing masks, approached the pub, reportedly disguised as England supporters. However, it was later determined that they were actually fans of the opposing team.
The masked group stormed the pub’s beer garden and began assaulting patrons, most of whom were there to attend the England vs. Germany match. Punches and projectiles, including traffic cones, were thrown during the melee.
In the midst of the chaos, a police officer was assaulted, sustaining a broken collarbone. The incident occurred around 18.20.
The disorder lasted for approximately two minutes before officers responded, forcing the assailants to flee. As a result of the violence, several individuals suffered injuries, including head and facial injuries. Three people sustained more serious injuries to their legs, wrists, and thumbs.
Detectives are now seeking to identify the man seen in photographs taken at the scene. He is believed to be an England supporter and is wanted in connection with the assault on the police officer.
If anyone recognises the man in the photographs, they are urged to call the police on 020 8246 9386 or 101, quoting Operation Wurzel. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
