A man in his 80s has died after a fatal collision on a busy Maidstone street. Police are urgently seeking witnesses, CCTV, and dashcam footage to piece together what happened.
The Crash
The smash happened at around 1pm on Friday 21 November 2025. A silver Volkswagen Passat was driving along the A229, Royal Engineers Road, heading towards Maidstone. Near the pedestrian crossing by Maidstone Library, it collided with an elderly man on a blue mobility scooter.
Emergency services rushed the man to a London hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries the next day. His family has been informed.
Driver Arrested, Investigation Ongoing
The car’s driver, a man in his 40s, was arrested but has been released on bail pending further investigations. Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the inquiry.
