A devastating smash on the Nottinghamshire-Derbyshire border has claimed the lives of two women and left a nine-year-old boy with life-changing injuries. An 18-year-old teen was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving.
Fatal Collision Early This Morning
The crash happened just after 6am in Pleasley. A Vauxhall Meriva collided with a Suzuki Alto, leaving chaos in its wake. Two women, both passengers in the Suzuki, died instantly despite frantic attempts to save them.
The boy, also in the Suzuki, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, three men in the Vauxhall were injured, two seriously, with at least one requiring hospital treatment.
Teen Arrested on Suspicion of Dangerous Driving
Police detained an 18-year-old at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Derbyshire Constabulary is now hunting witnesses to piece together the moments leading up to the tragic crash.
