A woman has sadly died after suffering a suspected medical episode while using the swimming pool at a Preston gym on Monday evening.
Emergency services were called to Total Fitness on West Strand at around 5.30pm following reports of a woman in distress in the water. Paramedics and gym staff worked to pull the woman, believed to be in her 60s, from the pool, but despite their best efforts she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the HM Coroner.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary confirmed:
“We were called by the ambulance service at shortly after 5.30pm yesterday (Monday, June 2nd) following a sudden death at Total Fitness, West Strand, Preston.
