Woman’s Death Shocks Total Fitness
A woman in her 60s tragically died after suffering a suspected medical episode while swimming at Total Fitness gym in Preston on Monday evening. The incident unfolded at around 5.30pm at the West Strand gym.
Emergency Teams Rush to Scene
Gym staff and paramedics quickly pulled the woman from the pool after reports of distress. Despite their desperate efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
No Suspicion Around Death
Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A spokesperson from 1 Constabulary said:
“We were called shortly after 5.30pm on Monday following a sudden death at Total Fitness, West Strand, Preston. A woman in her 60s was pulled from the swimming pool after a suspected medical episode. Despite efforts from staff and medical teams, this is not being treated as suspicious.”
Gym Closes for Investigation
Total Fitness temporarily shut its Preston branch while investigations are carried out. Authorities say a file will be prepared for the HM Coroner as they await further details from North West Ambulance Service.
