A man has been charged with a murder in Dagenham. Police were called by
London Ambulance Service at around 01:30hrs on Saturday, 20 April, to a 50-year-old man suffering stab injuries in Rothwell Gardens, Dagenham. Officers attended and their initial investigations quickly led them to a second man
suffering critical stab injuries in nearby Flamstead Road. Despite the efforts of
emergency services, 23-year-old Haseeb Bhatti died at the scene. The family of Mr Bhatti are being
supported by specialist officers. The
condition of the 50-year-old man was not life-threatening. He was discharged from the hospital.
The Met investigation led to the arrest of a man in Ashford, Kent on 24 April. On 26 April the man was charged with the
murder of Haseeb Bhatti and also with GBH with intent on the 50-year-old man. The
man charged is Frankie Burletson, 24 of Dagenham. He appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’
Court on the morning of 26 April and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 30 April.
