In an incident that drew immediate attention, Kent Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to Rochester Cathedral in The Precinct, Rochester, following reports of a small fire on the afternoon of Wednesday, 20 December 2023. The response involved significant resources, including five fire engines and a specialized height vehicle.

Upon arrival, fire crews, equipped with personal protective equipment and breathing apparatus, tackled the blaze located in the cathedral’s air filtration system.
