Firefighters Rescue Two Dogs from Chelmsford House Fire

Firefighters bravely rescued two dogs from a house fire in Chelmsford last night, after a family was alerted to the blaze by a working smoke alarm. The fire, which broke out in the utility room of the home, caused extensive damage but, thanks to quick action, all occupants, including the family pets, were brought to safety.

The family was able to evacuate promptly after their smoke alarm detected the fire, allowing them to escape unharmed. Essex County Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived quickly at the scene and battled a well-developed fire in the utility room.
The family’s two dogs were found by firefighters and safely removed from the property, providing some relief amid the distressing ordeal.

In the wake of the incident, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is urging all residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms in their homes. “If you or someone you know hasn’t got working smoke alarms at home, we can fit them for free. Search ‘Essex Fire Book’ to find out more,” Curtis advised.

Electrical faults remain one of the leading causes of house fires in the UK. Fire services recommend regular checks on appliances and wiring, and ensuring that smoke alarms are installed on every level of a home.
