New drone attacks at Gatwick sees flights diverted
A number of flights into Gatwick have been diverted to Stansted Airport following reports of a possible drone sighting on Sunday afternoon. EasyJet diverted an Amsterdam and Barcelona flight both initially got sent to Stansted before taking off again to land at Gatwick. A flight from Heraklion was also diverted belonging to British Airways All flights eventually landed 90 minutes later than scheduled at Gatwick after landing at Stansted A spokesman for Gatwick Airport said They did not anticipate any further diversions on Sunday. The last sighting of drones forced the airport into complete shut down for 33 hours disrupting thousands of passengers and flights. A major police operation and the Army were eventually called to bring the incident to a close Gatwick are understood to have purchased and having made their own system to prevent future flight disruption.
