UPDATED: Armed Siege in Orpington – Man Reportedly Armed with Gun and Petrol Bomb
A major armed police operation in Orpington took place on Monday evening following reports of a man barricaded inside a home, believed to be armed with a gun and a petrol bomb.
Emergency services were called to Wagtail Way, shortly after 8pm, where a siege situation quickly developed.
The suspect reportedly remained inside the property, and specialist firearms officers from the Metropolitan Police were called to the scene attempting to negotiate a peaceful resolution. Roads have been cordoned off around Blacksmiths Lane and Sweeps Lane, with a large police presence in the area.

Police urged the public to avoid the area while the situation remains active.

The Met Police Tactical Firearms Unit and crisis negotiators are believed to be deployed. It’s currently unknown if there are any hostages or injuries.
A source for the Met Police at the scene said:
“We are responding to an incident in Wagtail Way, Orpington, involving a male believed to be armed and in possession of a weapon Officers are on scene. The situation is contained, and efforts are ongoing to bring it to a safe conclusion.”
