A sick predator who raped and sexually abused eight victims over nearly two decades has finally been locked up. Pramod Dhakal, 49, only came to light after a brave victim spoke out in November 2023, leading others to come forward.
Victims Mostly Children as Young as Eight
- All but one victim were children at the time.
- Youngest was just eight years old.
- Most victims were from Cambridgeshire, one from London.
- Some feared reporting abuse, worried they wouldn’t be believed.
Swift Arrest, Denials, and Guilty Verdict
Dhakal, from Victorian Crescent, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was arrested just two days after police were first contacted. He denied all allegations, even throughout his 20-day trial at Cambridge Crown Court in September.
The jury took less than three hours to find him guilty on 25 counts, including:
- 15 counts of sexual assault on a girl under 16
- 7 counts of rape of a girl under 16
- 3 counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Harsh Sentence and Lifetime Punishments
On Monday, Dhakal was slammed with a 25-year prison sentence, with an extended eight years on licence after release. He’ll also spend the rest of his life on the Sex Offenders Register and has a restraining order barring contact with all eight victims for the same duration.
Justice served, but the scars remain for his victims.
