Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary have provided an update on the investigation into a recent car crash and suspected kidnapping incident in Alverstoke, Gosport. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, January 6, has left the community on edge as authorities work to piece together the events that transpired.
The sequence of events began when police received a call at 11:04 PM reporting a collision involving two vehicles in Alverstoke. According to reports, a white Ford Focus collided with a building, while a black BMW 1 Series struck two pedestrians on Village Road. The pedestrians, a man in his 50s and a 16-year-old girl were subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. Fortunately, both are in stable condition and not considered to be in life-threatening condition.
Meanwhile, two individuals believed to be teenagers exited the white Ford Focus and fled in the direction of Western Way.
Simultaneously, authorities were informed that earlier, a man had been forcibly placed into a white vehicle on Ferrol Road. The vehicle was observed leaving the area and appeared to be pursued by a black car.
In response to these events, three individuals were arrested on charges of dangerous driving and kidnapping. The suspects included a 26-year-old man from Gosport (arrested on suspicion of kidnap and causing injury by careless/inconsiderate driving), a 20-year-old man from Gosport (arrested on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap and causing injury by dangerous driving), and a 54-year-old man from Gosport (arrested on suspicion of conspiring to kidnap, causing injury by dangerous driving, and driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs).
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson provided updates on the status of the suspects, stating, “The 26-year-old man has been bailed with conditions until 7 April while enquiries continue. The 20-year-old man has been released with no further action. The 54-year-old man has been released and will face no further action about the kidnap allegation, however, he remains under investigation for the offences of dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drugs.
The incident left visible damage to a building that houses Voluptuous Vintage, a clothing shop, as well as an adjacent residential property.
