Nadeem Afzal, a 52-year-old man who once lectured children on the importance of turning their backs on crime, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for rape.
Afzal, previously jailed for various crimes including violence and drug importation in the 1990s and early 2000s, had claimed to be a “reformed offender.” Since 2006, he has led a “socially positive life,” dedicating his time to educating young people about how to avoid a life of crime.
