As the seventh anniversary of the disappearance of Georgina Gharsallah passes, Sussex Police have renewed their appeal for truth, justice, and answers, urging the public — and especially those withholding information — to come forward.
Georgina, then 30 years old, was last seen on March 7, 2018, in Worthing. Despite a years-long investigation involving hundreds of officers, partner agencies, volunteers, and extensive media coverage, the truth about what happened to her remains unknown.
A Heartbreaking and Ongoing Investigation
Senior Investigating Officers continue to stress that Georgina is still missing, and that every credible line of enquiry has been pursued. Throughout the investigation, Sussex Police have worked with national and international partners including the National Crime Agency, Crimestoppers, Interpol, and numerous digital and forensic experts.
“We have been supported by so many who genuinely care — from Georgina’s mother Andrea to media teams, search officers, and concerned members of the public,” said the lead officer on the case.
“Yet, despite tireless effort, we have not found Georgina. And someone out there knows what happened.”
False Leads and Online Rumours Hindering Progress
Investigators have faced numerous challenges, including misinformation, fake witnesses, and persistent online rumours. False claims have included sightings of Georgina working in a coffee shop, starting a family abroad, or being trafficked — all unsubstantiated and deeply distressing to her loved ones.
“Rumourmongers have caused unimaginable pain to Georgina’s family. Every lie or false lead diverts resources and damages trust,” the officer added.
“We continue to appeal to those who may be knowingly or unknowingly withholding information — please, now is the time to come forward.”
A Mother’s Relentless Fight for Justice
Andrea Gharsallah, Georgina’s mother, has remained at the forefront of public efforts to keep her daughter’s case in the spotlight. Through posters, public appeals, social media campaigns, and documentaries, she has worked tirelessly to give Georgina a voice.
