The missing man’s family is being supported by a specialist officer, and his identity has not yet been made public, at the request of his loved ones.

Weybridge Rowing Club has expressed its devastation in a statement, saying: “We are grateful that the other crew members and a member of the public who came to assist are safe. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to the friends and families of those affected.

The club also extended heartfelt thanks to the members of the public who helped during the incident and to those offering supportive messages from other rowing clubs and river users.

Three of the five people rescued were taken to hospital for checks. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the capsizing, though at this stage, police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances or third-party involvement.

As the search continues, the rowing community and local residents remain hopeful for closure, with tributes and support pouring in for the missing man and his family.
