Two people have been arrested after eagle-eyed officers from Staffordshire Police’s Armed Response Vehicle (ARV) team quickly located a stolen vehicle just an hour after it was reported missing.

The incident unfolded earlier today as part of Operation Lightning, an initiative targeting vehicle crime across the region. The vehicle had been reported stolen in the afternoon, prompting an immediate police response.

Thanks to the vigilance of officers from #StaffsARV, the vehicle was swiftly spotted and recovered. Two occupants were arrested at the scene in connection with the theft.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police praised the quick actions of the officers, saying: “This was a fantastic example of proactive policing. Within an hour of the report coming in, we had the vehicle recovered and two people in custody.”

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts under Operation Lightning to crack down on vehicle theft and associated criminal activity across Staffordshire.

Anyone with further information related to vehicle crime is encouraged to contact Staffordshire Police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
