Two Charged following North London Terror Raids

Detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have charged two men with terror offences. Ahmed Aweys, 32, of Redbridge was charged with three offences of dissemination of terrorist publications, contrary to section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006. Abdulaziz Omer Munye, 26, of north London was charged with one offence under section 2 of Terrorism Act 2006. Both men were charged on the evening, of Thursday, 9 August and will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates on Friday, 10 August. These two charges are part of four arrests made by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command as part of an ongoing operation. Earlier, at 10:00hrs on Thursday, 9 August, police arrested a 30-year-old woman on suspicion of the collection of information, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. She remains in police custody. Previously, on Wednesday, 18 April, a 29-year-old man [C] from east London was arrested on Wednesday, 18 April on suspicion of terror offences. He remains on bail to return to a south-London police station in mid-August.
