West Yorkshire Police have renewed their urgent appeal for information to locate Hardeep Garcha, a 33-year-old man from Bradford, who has been evading authorities since failing to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on July 10, 2023. Garcha is wanted in connection with serious violent offences that left victims with significant injuries.

Despite extensive efforts by the police, Garcha remains at large, and officers are now turning to the public for assistance.

Violent Attacks in Leeds: A Day of Terror

The charges against Garcha relate to a series of violent incidents on November 11, 2022, at two prominent locations in Leeds city centre: Heaton’s Court and Leeds train station.

According to West Yorkshire Police, Garcha is accused of:

  • Section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent
  • Section 47 actual bodily harm (ABH)
  • Racially aggravated public order offence

One of the victims suffered a broken jaw, while another sustained severe bruising. The unprovoked attacks left the community shocked, as both incidents occurred without warning and targeted unsuspecting members of the public.

“These were violent, senseless acts against innocent people,” said a police spokesperson. The nature of the attacks raised concerns about public safety in Leeds, a city usually praised for its vibrant and community-focused atmosphere.

The Hunt for Garcha

Since Garcha failed to appear in court nearly two years ago, police have conducted extensive enquiries to trace him. Despite following numerous leads, he continues to evade capture. Garcha is believed to have ties to both Bradford and Sheffield, with recent intelligence suggesting he may still be in the area.

PC 2061 Moffat, based at Pudsey Police Station, is leading the investigation and has urged anyone who might know Garcha’s whereabouts to come forward.

“We’ve followed every lead available, but we need the public’s help to close this case,” Moffat stated. “We believe someone out there knows where he is.”

How to Help

Police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information regarding Garcha. Several channels have been set up to receive tips, including:

Community Reaction

Residents and business owners in Leeds expressed their concern following the attacks. Local shopkeeper Amrit Singh told reporters:

“We’re all hoping the police find him soon. It’s scary to think someone capable of such violence is still out there.

Social media platforms have seen numerous posts from locals sharing the police appeal, hoping to spread awareness and assist the investigation.

Police Commitment to Public Safety

The force remains determined to bring Garcha to justice and has reassured the public that efforts to locate him are ongoing.

“We won’t rest until we find him,” PC Moffat confirmed. “Anyone helping to hide him should also be aware they could face charges for aiding an offender.”

The appeal underscores the seriousness with which West Yorkshire Police is treating this case, reflecting the need for public cooperation to ensure community safety.

For now, authorities are urging anyone with information, however insignificant it may seem, to come forward and assist in the investigation.
