Police have launched an urgent manhunt for convicted killer Shaun Walker, who is currently on the run after breaching his licence conditions. The public has been warned not to approach Walker but to contact the authorities immediately if they see him.

Walker, 29, was imprisoned for fatally headbutting Barry Thomas, 45, in a dispute over a moped back in June 2013. The incident occurred during a social gathering in Newport, where Walker punched Mr. Thomas several times before following him up the street to continue the attack. Mr. Thomas tragically passed away two days later due to a catastrophic brain haemorrhage.

At the time of the incident, Walker was 19 years old. He was convicted of manslaughter in December 2013 and sentenced to eight years in prison, with an additional four years on licence.

During the trial at Newport Crown Court, it was revealed that Walker had a history of violent offences. He had previously assaulted a female police officer and fractured a man’s nose in separate incidents.

Walker’s accomplice in the fatal assault, Calvin Wall, aged 46 at the time, was also found guilty of manslaughter and received an eight-year prison sentence.

Given Walker’s history of violent crime and his current breach of licence conditions, the public has been urged to avoid confronting him. Instead, anyone who spots Walker is advised to call 999 immediately.

Authorities have provided a reference number, 24*109553, for individuals with information about Walker’s whereabouts to use when contacting the police. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
