A woman has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision involving a car and a fire engine in Alsager. A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews attended a road traffic collision involving a car and a fire engine which was on its way to an incident. The driver of the car received casualty care from firefighters until paramedics arrived on scene to take them to hospital. No firefighters have been seriously hurt. Crews made the vehicle safe and an investigation is now underway. A full road closure is in place while vehicles are recovered." Cheshire Police confirmed that they received reports of the collision and said: "Police received reports of a collision at the junction with Crewe Road and Close Lane, Alsager. The collision involved a car and a fire engine, which is believed to have been responding to an emergency call. The driver of the car has been taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital." The road remains closed as recovery work continues and investigations are conducted. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and avoid the area.
