Daniel Haslam, of Highbrook, was locked up yesterday (Thursday) at Leicester Crown Court after preying on his 13-year-old victim for his own depraved sexual desires.

A jury unanimously found the 26-year-old guilty on 12 counts of sexually assaulting a child and inciting them to engage in sexual activity with an adult.

Haslam showed no remose in his trial and made the victim take to the witness box to give evidence.

He was sentenced to six years in jail and placed on the sex offender register for life.

Lead investigator Detective Constable Paul Lilley, of Northamptonshire Police’s Child Protection Team, said: “Haslam is nothing short of a remorseless dangerous sexual deviant who sought to lie about and discredit the victim in this case.

“His abuse was sustained and premeditated and had the victim not been as brave as she was in coming forward then it would have no doubt carried on for longer.

“He preyed upon her, sexually abusing her over and over again while trying to hide his tracks along the way. I hope this brings closure for the victim who has handled herself impeccably throughout, and for that I would like to personally pay tribute to her bravery.”

He added: “Northamptonshire Police takes allegations of sexual assault very seriously and will always treat reports of this nature with the confidentiality and sensitivity they deserve. We will believe you.
