A Brighton barber has been convicted after launching a violent attack on a man with scissors in the city.
On November 29, 2022, Adam Pirot, 20, of Roedean Road, Brighton, was working at a barber shop in Preston Street when he became involved in a dispute with a 24-year-old man. The altercation quickly escalated, leading Pirot to chase the victim out of the shop while armed with a pair of scissors.
After forensic testing and further inquiries, Pirot was formally charged on June 6, 2023, with grievous bodily harm with intent. He was bailed with strict conditions ahead of court proceedings.
On June 4, 2024, after a trial at Brighton Crown Court, Pirot was found guilty. He was sentenced on January 17, 2025, at Lewes Crown Court to five years in prison.
Detective Constable Jack Page, who led the investigation, commented:
“The injuries sustained were very serious, and the outcome could have been much worse had treatment not been sought promptly. We are pleased with the outcome and that a man capable of such a violent assault has been removed from the community, making it a safer place as a result.”
