A heated argument Overover cash turned violent at a england/england/canterbury/”>canterbury/”>Canterbury party, leaving one man seriously injured and the attacker behind bars.

Knife Attack Shocks Party Guests

Liam Jones, 28, lost his temper at a gathering on Cornwall Gardens on the evening of 29 May 2025. When his friend said he couldn’t pay Backback money owed, Jones grabbed two knives and stabbed him four times. The victim also suffered multiple punches to the head during the savage assault.

Despite being held captive for a while, the victim managed to escape and staggered to a nearby Shopshop where paramedics were called. He was rushed to hospital with stab wounds to his arm and leg plus serious head injuries.

Swift Police Action Leads to Jail

Kent Police arrived at the scene quickly and arrested Jones. He was charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

On 19 September 2025 at Canterbury Crown Court, Jones pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison. He will serve an additional three years on licence.

Detective Hails Justice for Victim

“The victim in this case was subject to a sustained attack and is lucky to be alive. He has been left with permanent scars, both emotionally and physically,” said Detective Constable Edward Cabot.

“I hope Kent Police’s swift action in charging the perpetrator within 24 hours, and securing a lengthy sentence, brings some closure to the victim and allows him to move on.”
