He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Offending Spanned a Decade

Lancashire Police said Dunne committed multiple sexual offences against a child in Pendle between 2009 and 2019.

The abuse only came to light in June 2024, when the victim found the courage to come forward and report what had happened.

Officers from the East RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) Team investigated the case. Dunne was confronted about his actions and confirmed the allegations were true.

Guilty Plea

Dunne admitted a range of charges including:

  • Rape
  • Attempted rape
  • Sexual assault
  • Inciting a child to engage in sexual activity

Police Statement

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said:

“The man pictured is Danny Dunne and he is a paedophile. You won’t see him on the streets of East Lancashire any time soon because he is today starting a long stretch in prison after officers from our East RASSO Team put him before the courts.

After suffering in silence, the brave victim informed police of what Dunne had done to him in June 2024. We hope this sentence gives him some sense of justice and sends a clear message that we will always pursue offenders of child sexual abuse.”
